About Us

The National Lacquer and Paint Products Company, Limited was founded in 1932 by two major founders, Mr. A. J. Ben and Mr. Harry J. Lowe together with five fellow townsmen in Hong Kong. With a glorious history of over 80 years, “Camelpaint” had become a household name and renowned brand in the paint and coatings industry in Hong Kong.

We had expanded our business to South East Asia and China with central offices and factories were setup in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand in the early 1960's and Dongguan, Shanghai and Beijing in China in the 1990's.

We had made a significant commitment to provide top quality products and highest standard services which enabled us to gain prominence in Decorative Coatings, Architectural Coatings, Industrial Coatings, Industrial Wood Coatings, Powder and Fluorocarbon Coatings in the region.

In the late 1970's, we had diversified our business in the property development sector and Blocks I, II and III of Camelpaint Buildings were completed in the 1980's. In 2002, we had converted our headquarter, the 7-storey factory building to commercial usage and renamed as Camelpaint Centre, being the pioneer of revitalization of industrial buildings in Kwun Tong.

2011 was a historical milestone for us. DGL Camel International Limited was set up in November 2011, which was a merge of our paint business with DGL International, a subsidiary in Hong Kong of DuluxGroup Limited in Australia. The combination of the two companies enabled the coatings business to expand with a widespread geographical coverage through an extensive complementary product range and a series of well-known brands.

The Company sold the entire paint and coatings business in 2017 and refocused on the other core businesses of property investment and leasing and treasury management.

Currently, our businesses are carried out through The National Lacquer and Paint Products Company, Limited, the holding company with its subsidiaries, namely, Benson Development Company Limited, Benson Investment Limited and Benson Properties Management Company Limited.
